Prius Sancti Lux, Prius Sancti
The moon hangs still, painted by the hue of a sun decaying
Time flows by in disguise
Suddenly the tide speaks of shadows
formed by the light of night and not day
Silvery the day weeps it’s not for you or me
The moon still hangs motionlessly longing for the warmth
Here to eclipse the Deathless Sun, the skies bleed for Him!
The sallow rays of the Sun, its blinding light
shrouds of gold, extinguished
Its death sanctified by the Moon
Becoming like a God or King dethroned in the drought of its embers!
the dying Sun plunges the world into shadow
dispersing the sky in a seething, violent maelstrom
through smokeless fires and shades of ochre
the Moon's silhouette cast as a sigil of its clandestine light!
The pillars of life lay crackled and as dust now
like the tempest sands and writhing serpents beneath me
O how I await the swarm of locusts
brought upon nefarious winds to herald
here to eclipse the Deathless Sun
swallowed by the seas and drowned by its Light
by humanity's black and foul heart

Blackbraid quickly followed up their 2022 debut in 2023 with more native folk infused furious black metal. This is by no means a sophomore slump as it is equally excellent, methodical, melodical, and approachable as the first record. 9/10 RJ
The Belgian band explore heavy psych, tribal rhythms, free-jazz freakouts, meditative drone and the vast, shadowy spaces in between. Bandcamp Album of the Day Jun 22, 2020

one of the best death doom bands so far. great melodies with great atmospheres. mostly slow, heavy and doomy but sometimes there are these groovy double-bass drum moments wich are pretty fucking cool. if you like death doom and melodic atmospheric black metal, this is for you. Sælzer Bub
